An income Tax Self Investigation is conducted in a similar way to
a Corporate Tax Self Assessment Investigation. However it looks
at the tax affairs of the individual and it is the individual or
the partnership that is subject to the tax investigation.
Where
a full tax investigation is undertaken it will normally include
an examination of all business books and records. The Inland Revenue
may ask for all private records and bank statements as part of their
tax investigation. It is not always appropriate or necessary to
provide these and each request should be looked at on its merits.
