Tony joined HMRC (formerly Inland Revenue) in 1970 and was a fully trained Inspector of Taxes before starting joining Gilbert Tax in 2007.
Whilst with HMRC Tony took on a variety of jobs in different parts of the organisation including investigation work at a local level as well as specialised investigation work with SCI (involving the most serious cases fraud and avoidance) and with CAR (involving residence, domicile and non resident trusts and landlords).
Tony has extensive experience in tax investigation including:
- Special Civil Investigations COP9 enquiries covering cases of suspected serious tax fraud
- Special Civil Investigations COP8 enquiries involving suspected tax avoidance and other cases that fell short of suspected serious fraud
- Information powers particularly S20 Taxes Management Act 1970
- Offshore bank account investigations
- CTSA/ITSA enquiries
- PAYE compliance
Since joining Gilbert Tax Tony has used his extensive experience to help clients obtain the best possible results in battling HMRC.
Tony has undertaken some very detailed enquiries relating to the residence position of individuals and has successfully defended a number of peoples residence status.
Tony dealt with many individuals who decided to come forward using the HMRC Offshore Disclosure Facility (Tax Amnesty).
Tony is well respected by all of his clients and has been a big asset to Gilbert Tax.
